A frame-by-frame review of the 6-iron swing from the November 2 session at Mariners, hit off natural turf and filmed down the line from behind the hands. There was no range screen this time, so the ball numbers are estimates built from his earlier 6-iron reports. This is the 10th and last report in the 6-iron series. It uses the reference frame (grid, center lines, diagonals, head-height and waist-height lines) and closes with simple next steps.
Bottom line: a calm, balanced 10th 6-iron report. With no range screen, there is no measured ball flight, so no personal best to flag. From his 3 earlier 6-irons with screen data, this swing is estimated at about 136 yds total (~132 carry), with ~99 mph of ball speed and ~71 mph of club speed. These are estimates, not measurements. For comparison, the LPGA Tour 6-iron averages 109 mph ball speed and 152 yds carry. The tempo of 2.6:1 (0.60 s back, 0.23 s down) is in the good band and close to the 3:1 Tour Tempo.
The best part is the lower body. The hips stayed back through impact (about 1.0 in away from the ball, rear of the hips about 0.7 in inside the tush line), so there is no early extension. The finish is tall and balanced. The constant is still the head: it sits about 5.8 in lower than at address at impact. The hips also rise about 1.8 in, and the hands come back about 1.5 in off their address spot. Both are on the watch list.
Hips stay on the tush line at impact, the tempo is 2.6:1, and the finish is tall and held.
The head is about 5.8 in lower at impact. Keep the cap near its address line so the club bottoms out in the same place each time.
Hips rise about 1.8 in and the hands return about 1.5 in off their address spot. Keep the knee flex until the ball is gone.
| Metric | Estimate | Range | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Club speed | ~71 mph | 68–74 mph | Estimated |
| Ball speed | ~99 mph | 95–103 mph | Estimated |
| Carry | ~132 yds | 127–138 yds | Estimated |
| Total | ~136 yds | 130–141 yds | Estimated |
Not measured: no range screen in this clip. Your 3 earlier 6-Iron reports with range-screen data, adjusted by this downswing time (at most ±2%). Confidence: moderate on club speed and yardage, low to moderate on ball speed. Not logged as a personal best.
What it means: A photo of the range screen or a 240 fps slow-motion clip makes these numbers more precise.
30 frames per second, so each time is accurate to about ±0.03 s. The backswing starts at 17.43 s, the top is at 18.03 s, and impact is at about 18.26 s.
| Group | Backswing | Downswing | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| André (6-iron #10, Nov 2 session) | ~0.60 s | ~0.23 s | ~2.6:1 |
| André (6-iron #3, Oct 14) | ~0.60 s | ~0.23 s | ~2.6:1 |
| André (6-iron #9, Oct 28, club to confirm) | ~0.53 s | ~0.20 s | ~2.7:1 |
| André (9-iron, Oct 28) | ~1.23 s | ~0.20 s | ~6.2:1 |
| PGA Tour (Tour Tempo, "24/8") | ~0.80 s | ~0.27 s | 3:1 |
Tour figure: John Novosel, Tour Tempo. One frame either way moves the ratio between about 2.4:1 and 2.9:1.
What it means: the downswing (0.23 s) matches his best 6-iron swing, and the backswing is a calm 0.60 s. The ratio is in the good band (2.5–3.5:1). It is the same 2.6:1 as his Oct 14 swing, so it is steady rather than a new best.
Nine key positions, filmed down the line from behind the hands, with the target away from the camera. Address is at 17.30 s (frame 99), impact at 18.26 s (frame 128) and the finish at 19.06 s (frame 152).
Photos are numbered in the order they happen in the swing. The frames follow the standard swing positions.

Depth note: with no sticks or mat in the frame, no depth rays could be drawn. From behind, the head's ~1.8–3.6 in shift toward the ball is a mix of "toward the ball" and "toward the target", and one camera can't split the two. A face-on clip will settle it.
| Report | Head down at impact | Hips toward ball at impact | Tempo | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6-Iron #10 · Nov 2 session | ~5.8 in | −1.0 in (stays back) | 2.6:1 | Head sinks, hips quiet |
| 6-Iron #9 · Oct 28 (club to confirm) | ~4.2 in | −0.1 in | 2.7:1 | Smallest dip yet |
| 6-Iron #3 · Oct 14 | ~6 in | ~0.9 in back | 2.6:1 | Personal-best swing, same dip |
| 6-Iron #2 · Oct 18 | ~5 in | Holds depth | ~2:1 | Hips better than his 7-iron |
The link: across his 6-iron reports the head sits about 4–6 in lower at impact, so the dip is a habit, not a one-off. The hips mostly hold their depth, which was not the case in his 7-iron. Fixing the head height is the next gain, and the lower body is already doing its job.
Confidence: high on tempo and key-frame timing (measured frame by frame); moderate on head and hip distances (grid scaled from body size, ±1 inch); moderate on rotation angles (visual estimates, ±10–15°); moderate on the estimated yardage and club speed, and low to moderate on the estimated ball speed; low on the toward-ball vs toward-target split (needs a second angle).
Same camera spot. Keep the top of the cap close to the white address line until the ball is gone, for 10 balls.
Feel: "chest over the ball, knees keep their flex." A steady head height makes contact more repeatable.
Film 5 swings and watch the belt-buckle line. Keep the buckle at its address height through impact and let the hands return to their address spot.
Less rise means the hands and club meet the ball from the same place each time.
Whatever he did with the hips on this swing: keep it. Back pockets stay on the tush line through impact.
Hips ~0.7 in inside the tush line is a real strength.
Keep the same count and the same quiet finish hold.
It repeats his best 6-iron tempo of 2.6:1.
Next capture: Photograph the range screen right after the shot, film in slow motion (120 or 240 fps) so the ball can be followed, add a face-on clip at chest height, and show the club sole clearly. 3–5 balls give an average, and André's height would lock the grid scale.
